Laura Berland-Shane (Santa Monica,CA) Laura Berland-Shane is a Business Development Manager for the Alternative Energy Group at Siemens, where she focuses on solar, but is also involved with automated water meter projects, retrofitting waste water treatment plants and making Siemens more sustainable. Prior to working in alternative energy, Laura was a finance and strategic planning executive and consultant in the media and entertainment industries.

Defeating the “Dirty Energy Proposition” (Proposition 23), an attempt by Texas oil companies to suspend California’s climate and clean energy policies, continues to be the top focus for E2. Because Proposition 23 effectively repeals implementation of California's Global Warming Solutions Act (AB 32), a “no” vote on Prop 23 this November will allow for the stable marketplace required to cultivate a clean energy economy.

read more > On July 15, the Massachusetts House of Representatives passed the Wind Energy Siting Reform Act, H.4687, by a vote of 101-52. The bill, which previously passed in the Senate, will now head to a House-Senate conference committee to be reconciled and then must be signed by the governor.
Like the bill passed by the Senate in February, the Act strikes a balance between environmental protection and efficient permitting for wind projects. Currently, it is easier for fossil fuel plants to win approval in the state than it is for small-scale wind development.
