NEW CARBON POLLUTION STANDARDS PROVIDE NEEDED CLARITY FOR BUSINESSES
Power plant standards will help bolster growing clean energy economy

WASHINGTON (March 27, 2012) – Clean Air Act standards proposed by the Obama administration today for new power plants are not just good for Americans’ health and environment, they’re also good for American businesses, according to members of Environmental Entrepreneurs, a national group of business leaders who advocate for sound economic and environmental policies.

“For investors and innovators alike, these standards will provide something that’s been missing: Clarity in the energy marketplace,” said Joel Serface, co-founder and managing director of Clean Range Ventures, a Boulder, Col.-based venture capital firm. “These standards should help spur more clean energy investments – and create more clean energy jobs - in America.”

“This is an important step toward helping level the playing field between renewable energy companies and carbon-intensive energy companies,” said Nicole Lederer, co-founder of Environmental Entrepreneurs. “That in turn will foster more innovation, which will benefit both businesses and consumers.”

“Other countries have already pulled ahead of America in the race to develop and deploy clean energy innovations in part because we haven’t held power plants to any carbon pollution standards,” said Jon Gensler, a U.S. Army veteran and project developer with Borrego Solar Systems Inc. in New York who became a clean energy advocate after serving in Iraq. “These standards will help drive the clean energy industry in this country, helping strengthen America and its economy.”

Environmental Entrepreneurs has business members in states across the country. To speak with an E2 member in your area, please contact Marc Boom at mboom@E2.org or call (202) 513-6257.
