WHAT CLEAN ENERGY JOBS? THESE CLEAN ENERGY JOBS!

Please find below Volume 23 of Environmental Entrepreneurs’ (E2’s) bi-weekly wrap-up of job announcements and project developments in the clean economy.  Compiled from news sources around the country, this week’s clean energy jobs report highlights a number of solar and public transportation projects throughout the nation, as well as reports of emerging trends in the energy space.

Colorado based Boulder Electric Vehicle announced the leasing of a large industrial building in Los Angeles, CA, where the company plans to begin manufacturing electric delivery vans. The 27,714-sq ft plant will initially produce 1,000 trucks a year, potentially increasing to over 3,000 vehicles in the near future. With a $3 million grant from the California Energy Commission, the company expects to initially hire 30 workers. In other news, ABB announced that it will be hiring 20 new employees at the company’s New Berlin, WI facility to produce fast-charging systems for electric vehicles that will enable electric vehicles to charge in 15 to 30 minutes.

With the assistance of a $90.6 million loan guarantee from the US DOE, Cogentrix Energy announced the completion of the Alamosa Solar generating plant. Located in San Luis Valley, CO, the 30MW project created 100 construction jobs, and will be responsible for generating power used by Public Service Company of Colorado customers.
