E2: EPA Carbon Pollution Limits Will Increase Clean Energy Investment, Improve National Security
WASHINGTON (September 20, 2013) - New Environmental Protection Agency standards that for the first time will limit carbon pollution from new power plants will also help drive growth in the clean energy industry – and help improve our national security, according to Environmental Entrepreneurs (E2), a nationwide network of business leaders and investors.
E2 co-founder Nicole Lederer made the following statement:
“Reducing carbon pollution will increase private investment in clean energy and drive job growth.
“This announcement sends a clear and welcome market signal to businesses, entrepreneurs and investors that will encourage energy technology innovation all across America.”
E2 member Lt. Gen. Norm Seip (USAF-RET), added the following statement:
“Cutting carbon pollution is key to addressing climate change. That’s good for our planet and our economy – but it’s also good for our national security and our military.
“Climate change problems – droughts, extreme weather, food and water scarcity – lead to global instability that our military must confront.
“The United States needs to lead on fighting climate change, not follow. And this is a big step in the right direction.”
Clean energy and clean transportation is already creating jobs all across America. According to E2’s latest quarterly clean energy jobs report, companies and communities announced at least 58 projects in the second quarter of this year that are expected to create more than 38,600 clean energy and clean transportation jobs across the country.
